SettlinU is a one-stop mobile platform designed to support international students as they move to a new country. From pre-arrival onboarding to everyday life abroad, the app brings together essential services like housing, banking guidance, safety support, local exploration, document storage, and a buddy system. The goal was to reduce the anxiety and fragmentation students face when settling into an unfamiliar environment.

SettlinU came to us at an early stage, requiring both a strong brand foundation and a scalable digital product. The challenge was twofold: defining a brand that felt friendly, trustworthy, and global, while also designing and building a feature-rich app that could handle complex journeys without overwhelming users. The biggest challenge was complexity. Settling into a new country involves dozens of decisions, systems, and unknowns. The experience had to be intuitive for first-time users, culturally sensitive, and flexible enough to grow as more features were added over time.

We started by shaping the brand identity, defining its tone, visual language, and personality. The brand needed to feel welcoming and reassuring, especially for first-time international students navigating unfamiliar systems. Colours, typography, and design elements were chosen to strike a balance between warmth and clarity, ensuring the brand felt approachable across cultures.
With the brand in place, we moved into app design and development. The product was structured around real student moments, arrival, confusion, discovery, and belonging, rather than a flat list of features. UX flows were designed to prioritise clarity and ease of navigation, while the UI carried the brand’s friendly tone throughout. Designed to scale across regions and institutions, SettlinU positions itself as a trusted companion for international students, helping them feel supported, informed, and at home, wherever they go. On the development side, the platform was built to support scalability, with distinct experiences for students, buddies, and administrators.
